With the end of the childeren’s summer holidays nearing, it’s the start of the holiday season for couples and friends.   Why not start your holiday early and travel down the night before you fly?  Join us for a relaxing evening, treat yourself to a fabulous meal prepared by our classically trained chef, maybe a drink or two and retire to our comfortable and stylish bedrooms.   We have on site parking where we can arrange for you to leave your car for the duration of your trip and we are only 10 minutes away from the airport, so it’s not a trek in the morning.

For an 11th year, the Misson Classic Car Rally took place.  35 beautifully maintained classic cars including a 1929 Lea Francis P type 12/40, a 1963 Austin Healy 3000 Mk2A, a 1970 E-Type Jag and a 1983 Bentley Mulsanne Turbo. 

This annual event starts with Breakfast at the Angel Inn, the cars all depart and follow a 100mile route to Butterley near Ripley to the Midland Railway Centre where the option to take a picturesque train journey was included, they then returned to the Angel for a barbeque.  The weather was kind, there were no major issues with the cars, and only a few wrong turns were taken!  Thank you to Bill Martland for organising the whole event!

Congratulations to all the people who took part in the cycle ride, affectionately know as ‘Tiggathon’ which took place last Sunday.  The ride attracted over 20 people all cycling 25miles and stopping in upto 14 pubs to collect money in aid of the cancer ward at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.  This annual event is held in memory of ‘Tiggy’, it sets of from the Angel Inn and finishes here too, where participants are greeted by  supporters and a buffet.  Big congratulations on another successful event to raise money for equipment which is desperately needed.

We are absolutely delighted to welcome our new Chef on board.  John Gregory, formerly Head Chef at Caviars in Bawtry, is joining us on Monday 19th July.  John has a vast amount of experience both here and abroad.  He has worked in Rosette accredited kitchens and led brigades of chefs to great success. 

 John will spend a week tweaking the menu, confirming suppliers, perfecting the dishes and organising the kitchen before commencing service week commencing 26th July.  All dishes will be prepared from scratch, using fresh, locally sourced ingredients, including some home grown produce.  Watch this space for confirmation of the menu or call us on 01302 711761.

We are all very excited about John’s appointment and are eagerly anticipating working together and the launch of the menu.

The racing season has started, with meetings in July and August.  The famous St Ledger Festival starts on Wednesday 8th September.   After the excitement of the day,escape from the hustle and bustle to the civilisation of our village pub.  Celebrate your winnings or drown your sorrows, maybe a bite to eat then Bed and Breakfast in the newly decorated rooms.

The Annual Misson Duck Race will take place on the 14th June, A great family Fun Day. Duck Tickets are available from the Angel Inn. Why not pop in buy a duck then come see if it wins with Stalls Tombola Barbecue and much more this is a great summer day out. With all profits going to charity this is a great way to support your local charity.
